Beirut

Just sitting here in the basement, waiting to hear who my VP will be.

I started watching television and became immensely and extremely concerned for the people of Beirut. The videos of what is happening in the streets is unreal. Unlike the US, their protests were violent – the “protestors” were soon “rioters” — they attacked buildings, burning and destroying them….they burnt flags and books — there appeared to be many, many injured. Elderly women were harassed and attacked on the streets. It was horrific to see. I was overwhelmed with sadness for the people.

Jill walked by and I said to her, “Honey, just look at these thugs calling themselves protestors. Beirut looks like a horrible place to live. We are lucky to be in America.”

Jill turned to me and said, “Joe, dear, that’s Portland.”

Portland, Lebanon? Never heard of it. That can’t be correct.

Come on, man.
